Type Locality and Naming

Lithology and Thickness
Reef limestone. The formation consists of limestone, which is thin to thick bedded, fine grained and clay-rich, and at places highly fossiliferous. The color varies from medium to dark grey. The limestone is reefoid and gives fetid odour on freshly broken surface. Thin calcareous shale intercalations of grey, green and brown color are present as minor components but become dominated in lithology in the central part of the Raskoh Range. Associated with the shale are common alternations of sandstone of light grey or greenish brown color. The sandstone is fine to medium grained and calcareous.
Thickness: 90-600 m. The thickness of the formation is highly variable, and ranges from more than 600 m in northwestern corner of Chagai-Raskoh Magmatic Province (C-RMP) of Balochistan Basin to about 90 m near Shaikh Hussain at the southern edge of Raskoh Range.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformably underlain by Rakhshani Fm
Upper contact
Conformably overlain by Khojak Fm (Oligocene).
Regional extent
The formation is restricted to Chagai-Raskoh Magmatic Province (C-RMP) of Balochistan Basin.

Fossils
Mostly forams are found and include Assilina granulose, A. exponens, A. elliptica, Fasciolites oblonga, F. granulose, Discocylina cf., D. ranikotensis, Flosculina globosa, Lituonella douvillei, Opertorbitolites douvillei etc.
